If you knew something good existed… something that could change someone’s life, would you keep it to yourself?
Would you tell your family, your friends, or even someone you barely knew?
How would you know to look for something you didn’t know existed?
I’ve been thinking about that lately, and I keep coming back to the story about John the Baptist.
John saw Jesus and said “Look, the Lamb of God!” (John 1:36)
What did John do? He pointed him out.
One of the men who heard John was Andrew. Andrew spent time with Jesus and whatever happened in that encounter was enough for him to go find his brother Simon.
He told him “We have found the Messiah.” (John 1:41)
I love how simple that is.
Andrew found something that mattered to him, and the first person he thought of was his brother.
He didn’t keep it to himself.
Sometimes I think that’s how God works in our lives. We discover something on our own, and other times, someone points us towards something we would have never known to look for.
And that’s the reason I’m writing this.
Maybe owning a home is something you’ve wanted for a long time, but somewhere along the way, you decided it wasn’t in the cards for you.
Maybe you think you need more money, better credit, a bigger down payment, or circumstances need to change.
Or you have questions you’ve never asked because you don’t know who to ask.
But here’s the thing, how would you know what’s possible until you ask?
I say this often: “the only “no” we truly get in life is the one we give ourselves.”
We can talk ourselves out of something before anyone else ever has the chance to tell us whether it’s actually possible.
That doesn’t mean every dream will work out exactly the way we imagine it. And I’m definitely not saying faith means ignoring reality.
Maybe the next step is a conversation or asking a question you’ve been afraid to ask. You may be surprised by what you learn.
And that’s what I hope to do here…not tell you what you should do, but to help you ask better questions, connect with the right people, understand your options, and see what might be possible.
Because sometimes, all it takes is someone saying, “have you ever thought about this?”
And suddenly, something you thought was out of reach looks a little different.
When we recognize something good, we shouldn't keep it to ourselves.
We’re not always meant to figure everything out by ourselves. Sometimes we just need someone to point us in the right direction.
So, if you’re thinking about owning a home but assumed it wasn’t possible, maybe don’t decide that just yet. Ask.
You might be closer than you think.
And if a door opens that you never thought would, I hope we remember WHO opened it.
